 Meet the Judges



 Mukunda Angulo is an artist & filmmaker from New York City. Mukunda is known for his work on Window Feel (2015), Mirror Heart (2015), and The Wolfpack (2015).



After a decade working in creative agencies in Australia, South East Asia, and the US, Alex joined Spotify as its first Global Creative Director in 2015. In the two years since, he has built its creative team to over 30 people, creating award­-winning work that spans digital, data storytelling, documentary content, artist marketing, outdoor, broadcast, original music, content identity, and experiential. Originally from Sydney, Australia, he now lives in Brooklyn.



Jeron is an New York City-based artist whose work has been featured at Superchief Gallery, GLAS Animation Festival, as well as winning the Short Film Jury Award for Animation at the Sundance Film Festival. He is also a featured speaker at the 2018 Pictoplasma Conference in NYC.



Oscar nominee Chris Butler is the writer and director of LAIKA’s animated feature film Missing Link, which will be released domestically by Annapurna Pictures on April 19, 2019. ParaNorman, which he wrote and directed for LAIKA in 2012, won numerous awards and was nominated for an Academy Award® for Outstanding Animated Film.


Brooke Keesling

 Brooke Keesling is the Director of Communications and Culture at The Animation Guild as well as an Animation Instructor at CalArts. A native of Los Angeles, she has worked in the animation and VFX industry for decades as an artist, in production, in education, and in talent development.



David Lee leads Squarespace's award-winning creative team, whose work encapsulates all brand creative, web design, and product design. David has master minded five Super Bowl campaigns for Squarespace and, in 2017, he was named one of the Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company. He graduated from RISD with a BFA in graphic design.



 Casey Neistat is an American YouTube personality, filmmaker, vlogger, and founder of 368, a new creative space in NYC.

 A seasoned producer with a background in film, Mona Panchal currently oversees director-driven documentary and scripted work for Topic’s owned and operated digital platforms as well as digital content for Topic Studios.  



In addition to creating and starring in the series 'Joe Pera Talks with You' and the animated short 'Joe Pera Talks You To Sleep' for Adult Swim, Joe is a comedian who has performed standup on 'Conan', 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', and 'Comedy Central'.  You can see him perform live every Tuesday night at the 'Dan Joe Charles Show' in Brooklyn. 


Julia Rothman

Julia Rothman is an illustrator, author, and educator. She co-founded Women Who Draw, an open directory of female-identifying professional illustrators, artists and cartoonists created as an effort to increase visibility of female illustrators.  



Rajendra Roy joined the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art as Chief Curator in July 2007. He has organized the first museum retrospective of the films of Mike Nichols, and the blockbuster exhibition Tim Burton, which toured internationally. He is also co-chair of the selection committee for New Directors/New Films, presented annually with the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

18 Seconds and Under Only

All submissions must be micro-films: up to 18 seconds of loopable content (HD mp4 files only: 16:9/1080p)

Submissions with and without sound are accepted. If using music, please make sure it is original, royalty-free, or make sure you have the rights to use those sweet tunes.

Content creators can submit up to three pieces of work to the following categories:

  1. Narrative

  2. Stop-Motion

  3. Animated

  4. Experimental

  5. Wild Card / Other

Creators must be US residents, 18 and over. See contest rules for additional details.


One Screening, One Night Only


Finalists submissions will be screened at an invite only event at the Metrograph Theater in the Lower East Side, NYC on Thursday, November 8th, 2018.

Grand prize winner to be announced at the event with an afterparty with food and drinks upstairs at the Metrograph's Commissary to follow.
